Final Requirements

(This list will serve as guide for the sequence of deliberations)

Presentation # 1: Slide presentation of the following:

a. Objectives of the store with retail theory used, target market, and nature of the location (People, domestic culture, & social class) Target market and location will be given.

b. Rationale of the store image - What does your store stand for?

c. Product Assortment * – One (1) slide per category showing only an overview of the items you’ll be selling. Use images showing price range, design showing e.g. prints of the shirt, or scent of the perfume, or material of shoes, etc. Explain the reason why you can sell it to your target market? items shall be your choice. Volume shall depend on the retail theory. Selections are given as follows:

1. Men’s Apparel and Accessories

Shirts – branded or mock with all sizes
Long sleeved shirts – branded or mock with all sizes
Jackets – branded or mock with all sizes
Denim Jeans - branded or mock with all sizes
Casual Jeans - branded or mock with all sizes
Shoes and socks – branded or mock brand of casual, or sports, or slip-ons
Accessories – brand or mock brand of watches, belts, bags, caps, shades, & wallets
2. Women’s Apparel and Accessories

Shirts – branded or mock with all sizes
Blouses – branded or mock with all sizes
Jackets – branded or mock with all sizes
Denim Jeans - branded or mock with all sizes
Skirts and casual Jeans – branded or mock with all sizes
Shoes – branded or mock brand of casual, or sports, or slip-ons
Accessories – brand or mock brand of watches, belts, bags, shades, & wallets. Jewelry can be also included.
3. Cosmetics and Perfumes

Perfume – branded or mock brand
Cologne – branded or mock brand
Body mist – branded or mock brand
Make up line – branded or mock brand of lipstick, eyeliner, blush, powder, etc.
4. Home Accessories

Fitted sheets – King, queen, double, and single sizes
Comforter – King, queen, double, and single sizes
Pillow and cases – assorted type
Decorative pillows – assorted types
Decorative Lamps – standing, table, droplight type
Carpet rugs – assorted design
Artificial flowers – assorted types
Decorative/gift items – assorted brand of scented candles, aromatherapy, oil burners, incense with burners, artificial flowers, clay vases, ceramic vases, glass vases, picture frames, wall clocks
5. In-store confectionaries/coffee shop

Baked goods – assorted type of muffins, donuts, and cakes
Candies – hard and soft type
Coffee and tea – assorted type
* e.g. High mark-up with low volume and smaller selection would mean, for example, 3 exclusive brands for the perfume, 1 exclusive brand for the make up line, 2 brand for the entire Men’s Apparel section, etc.

Deliberation Guideline: Briefly discuss all of the above without reading. Use key words that tell EXACTLY what your retail image is like Current, Young, Bold, Hustle-free, etc. Do not use too many texts on the slides instead use visuals.

Presentation # 2: Floor Plan & Layout; Perspective of each category

a. FP&L scale shall be 1:40M on 20 x 30 tracing paper mounted on B&W board. Use CADD or inked with good drafting presentation. Indicate categories in the layout with label.

b. Each category will have the following coverage area – Men’s Apparel: 65sqm; Women’s Apparel: 65sqm; Cosmetics and Perfume: 50sqm; Home Accessories: 65sqm; In-store confectionaries/coffee shop: 25sqm

e. each perspective shall be drawn by each member of the group.

One point rendered perspective of each category on 20 x 30 Strathmore mounted on B&W board.

Deliberation Guideline: Discuss the “storyboard” of your layout using the perspectives, start with the entrance up to the last category. Discuss the type of circulation.

Presentation # 3: Model of the typical fixture: 1 feature, 1 signature, and 1 capacity

a. All fixture model shall be in 1:10M scale using any type of scale modeling material.

b. All fixture model shall be firmly mounted on a foam board.

c. Design the 3 fixture for ANY of the category which you would like to highlight in your presentation. E.g. All fixture type for the Women’s section, or 1 Feature fixture for Men’s section and 2 other fixture type for the Cosmetics & Perfume section, or 2 fixture type for the coffee shop and 1 capacity fixture for the Home section, etc

d. Include fixture branding and lifestyle imaging to improve presentation. Use the same images and graphics from Presentation #4. Coordinate with your group member.

Deliberation Guideline: Discuss the flexibility of your fixture. Discuss how you will display the merchandise. Discuss the idea behind the design in connection with the retail image.

Presentation # 4: Storefront design and signage, lifestyle imaging, In-store signage, menu design, and fixture branding

a. 1:40m scale rendered elevations of the storefront and one side of the store showing signage design with typeface. On 20 x 30 Strathmore mounted on B&W board.

b. Rendered spot perspective of the storefront showing depth and lighting effect. Indicate materials used for the storefront. Mount on the same board as the elevations.

c. Design of in-store signage/s for all categories, menu board design for confectionaries/coffee shop, and typical fixture branding and graphics. Show and indicate typeface (font style, uppercases, lowercases, and copy). You can use PC based software (e.g. Photoshop) and mount it on 20 x 30 B&W board.

d. Image board showing lifestyle images that reflect the positive treatment of the store towards its customers. On 20 x 30 B&W board.

Deliberation Guideline: Discuss the storefront design, signage material, and lighting effect. Discuss the font style. Discuss why and how the lifestyle images reflect the positive image of the store, how will the images help sell the store?


Presentation # 5: Calendar of sets for the display windows and in-store.

a. On 15 x 20 Strathmore mounted on B&W board (1 board per setting). Design a window and a basic in-store setting (using your product assortment) for each season/event:

Inauguration of the store as a new and upcoming retailer, (store opening!)
Summer/Spring setting
June setting (back to school, or bridal theme, or rainy day theme, etc.)
Christmas to New Year setting
Chinese New Year setting
b. Show an image that inspired you for each setting. Mount on the same board as the setting.

c. Use the same lifestyle images used for Presentation #4. Coordinate with your group member.

d. Image board showing the mannequins that represent the store image. Use the same mannequins for the settings.

Storefronts must be located on the East or South side of the store. Store entrances must have a clearance of at least 3.00m with a height of 3.00m including glass display window.

Deliberation Guideline: Discuss the mannequins and why it represents the store image. Briefly discuss the settings one at a time, showing first, the inspiration, then the window setting, and lastly, the in-store setting.


***Binasa mo?! Wow, ang tibay mo naman!^_^ Wala lang, gusto ko lang i-post. Hay nako, grabe na toh! Yung presentation #4 ang assigned sa'kin. By groups of 5 kasi yan. Ang aming defense is on Thursday, March 23.
Ang gagawin namin actually dyan eh magdedesign ng store (with all those types of merchandise) appropriate for a certain place and a certain class of people. So yun amin, sa may Ortigas Center, Pasig. Between 25-45 years old, working class; class B-C ung type of market. Tapos dapat, hindi masyadong sosyal and affordable ung merchandise. O diba, may ganung factor pa! Hehe.
